Jamberry Nail Art Studio

I've been playing around with Jamberry's Nail Art Studio. I was inspired by a picture of Superman Ice cream that was posted on Instagram. These patterns and colors are too juvenile for my taste but I think they would make great Jamberry junior wraps.  I only wish they would give us templates for the junior wraps.

I tried to create an interesting pattern in Comic Life Magiq.  You can't buy the program anymore. I bought it from Plasq about 5 years ago and loved the program. It has a lot of really great features that you can't get in Comic Life 3.  I call this pattern Blue Eyes.

I decided I wanted to create a green version of Blue Eye. I wanted to create two more patterns to include on one sheet of wraps. That odd ball pattern is one attempt at making a new pattern with similar colors. It was an epic fail. I'll probably go back and delete that pattern from the sheet and just have all one pattern.

This is my last pattern. I really don't like two of the patterns but I'm totally loving the colors. I wonder what these will look like on long nails.

So, what do you think of my designs? Lame? Cool?

I Hate Having Naked Nails

I removed my Ritzy Reptile and Pumpkin Spice manicure today. I was sad to see them go. I had to take one last picture with my manicure before I removed the wraps. It took a long time for some reason. I probably shouldn't have watched a movie but I did. It also doesn't help that I do such a darn good job getting the wraps to seal to my nail. A gentle acetone removal is the only way I can take them off they stick so well.

I could only stand my nails being naked for a few hours before I decided to give the Royal Treatment Nail Lacquer set a try.

I miss my wraps.

I wish I had more energy because I just didn't feel like washing my hair today.  It's quite an ordeal. Four long hours of my hands covered in conditioner and detangling my curls. I absolutely hate it.  I will make the time to wash my hair tomorrow evening.

Back to the lacquer. The Royal Treatment Lacquer set.

I can't wait to see if the lacquer withstands my hair grooming routine. Even if it does, I will be applying new nail wraps Monday night.  I want to try the Zebra Diva and Veiled. I think they will go well together.

Boy I wish I had more to talk about that wasn't some kind of rant about what's going on in my life.

Me blog is the best place to get stuff off my chest. So here I go.

I'm thinking about leaving my real estate investing group. This older guy in the group creeps me out. He's very old and married and he actually had to nerve to think it was okay to flirt with me because he's unhappily married. That's his problem, not mine. Why do I deserve to be punished because he can't keep the passion burning in his marriage.

Ah. It seems I'm already bored with this subject. Good night.

Why did Bella chose pale face with horrifically pasty chest over Jake?

My Hair

I haven't posted much to my blog in the past few years but I still get a lot of page views from people wanting to know more about Sisterlocks.

At one point in my natural hair journey I had considered getting Sisterlocks. The expense and not knowing a consultant in my area I could trust to do the install inhibited me from getting Sisterlocks.

While I don't have Sisterlocks and I still can't tell you much about them, I did learn to work with my natural texture of hair which I was completely unaware I even had.

How can this be you ask? Well, during my hair straightening days, I only laid eyes on my curls when my hair was wet after a shampoo and that would be only 10 minutes tops.  And if you still don't know what I'm talking about, then let me say, wet curly hair is not the same as dry curly hair.  Try running a  Denman brush through wet curly hair and then dry curly hair.

But after reading the Curly Girl Handbook by Lorraine Massey and Tightly Curly by Teri LaFlesh, I learned how to maintain my curly hair.

The Curly Girl Handbook was not as helpful for me as far as styling my hair. Finger detangling doesn't work for me as I don't have any patience. The information in Tightly Curly was more useful and I pretty much follow the styling instructions in this book.

My apologies for ending this post so abruptly but I've completely lost interest in the subject of hair.  Good night.

Ritzy Reptile and Pumpkin Spice Jamicure

I'm totally in love with the Jamberry Nail Wraps. This is the best thing to happen to my manicures. For the longest time, I completely stopped painting my nails because the polish would start chipping after a few days.

For my latest manicure or jamicure (Jamberry manicure), I chose Ritzy Reptile and Pumpkin Spice. I have been obsessing for the past few days over finding a wrap that would pair well with Ritzy Reptile as an accent nail. The sparkles in Ritzy Reptile have more of a gold sparkle and I didn't have the Gold Sparkle wrap and the wraps that I have that have a gold sparkle were too gold.

The sparkle in Pumpkin Spice is the closest to the sparkle in Ritzy Reptile. The more I look at the pairing, the more I like it. Pumpkin Spice is actually a beautiful wrap and it looks a little subdued because of my complexion. I'm liking it even more than the Ritzy Reptile. LOL

I was going to use the Chameleonaire nail wrap for my next jamicure but I'm over my reptilian obsession. Isn't it pretty?

I think I'm going to use Zebra Debra with Veiled as my accent nail. I haven't seen any pictures on Instagram with long nails use this wrap yet.

Methinks I just found my next manicure. From top to bottom: #DiamondDustSparkleJN #ZebraDivaJN #VeiledJN

My manicures last me two weeks just like the Jamberry Company claims so it will be a while before I give myself another manicure. That picture doesn't do the beautiful purple tiger print any justice. It's so much prettier in person.

Married at First Sight

I could figure out which couples would stay together and which ones wouldn't.  Here are my thoughts on each couple:

Jason and Courtney
I knew they would stay together. They were instantly attracted to each other. Courtney recognized what Jason needed and vice versa. Courtney gave Jason the time he needed to let her in emotionally. They rearranged their schedules and gave up some activities to make more time for each other.

Doug and Jaime
Doug was awesome from the very beginning. He gave Jaime the time she needed to become comfortable with him. Personally, I thought Doug was HOT. Obviously Jaime and I have different prescription glasses or whatever. His personality made him even HOTTER.

I felt bad for Jaime. She cried on her wedding day but put she effort into getting to know Doug. She stuck it out and ended up with the man of her dreams.

Doug was so patient with Jaime. It made like him even more. I can't say enough good things about Doug.

Vaughn and Monet
I knew they weren't going to last. The biggest blunder EVER! And is not because the "experts" didn't do a good job with finding people who'd be compatible with each other. The "experts" received bad data.

They didn't know how to communicate and neither one of them were willing to recognize and meet the other's needs.  For example, Monet could not comprehend why Vaughn was upset when she scheduled a girl's night out on the day of his return from reserve duty!

Vaughn admitted he wouldn't be able to put the time into getting familiar with Monet the way Doug did with Jaime. Doug and Jaime are happily married. Vaughn is not. MARRIAGE. IS. WORK. You get out of it what you put into it. Vaughn put in nothing and he received nothing.

Here is something else I noticed. Monet said she wanted a traditional man but she did think about what a traditional man would want in a woman. Vaughn wanted a woman who knew how to cook. Monet mistook a man wanting a wife who could cook as chauvinist.  I don't think Monet ever thought about what a traditional man would want in a woman.

Here is something else I notice. Vaughn wanted a marriage with traditional roles. Vaughn liked that Monet had her own career and had seen some success and wasn't just looking for a man to take care of her. However, where were Vaughn's successes?  What are his plans for the future? How did he plan to provide for a family?

I understood where Monet was coming from. However, I think she was short sighted. Maybe it's just the way I picture my marriage (IF I were married), but I would want my hubby and I to work on something (outside our jobs) to eventually work on full time to provide for our family.  I don't like the idea of my husband and I leaving each other every morning to give the best hours of our lives building someone else's business.

That's all I have to say about Married at First Sight. It's a good show and I'm looking forward to the next season.  There is an open audition for the next season that ends December 31st.  I think I might apply.

Metallic Croc

Today was manicure day and I chose Metallic Croc for my nails. Metallic wraps are a challenge to work with. To activate the glue, you have to hold the wrap with the glue side facing the heat source. However, the metallic wraps curl like crazy when the wrap is held close the the heat source glue side. So I tried to apply the wrap to my nail and then the heat. Worst mistake. I was unable to stretch the wrap to get rid of the buckles. If I haven't mentioned it before, but I have curved nails. The wraps buckle on the sides when applied to curved nails and the only way to get rid of the buckles is to stretch the wrap until the buckles disappear.

To get around the curling, I turned the glue side of the wrap away from the heat. So I essentially heated the wrap on the pattern side. That worked like a charm.

I don't think this manicure will last as long as my previous manicure and I think in the future I will only use the metallic wrap as an accent.

I was going to give myself a pedicure but changed my mind. I have hobbit feet and I don't feel like shaving my toes. Yes, that's right.  I have hair on my toes. I just told you I have hobbit feet. What did you expect??

I'm going to leave you with another fabulous picture of my manicure.

Hair and Manicures

I'm looking forward to my next manicure, which is tomorrow. I had a really hard time choosing a wrap. I placed an order not too long ago for wraps that were being discontinued, like Skyline (I'm wearing them in a picture in the previous post) and Holographic. In my first month I've already made over $100 which isn't much but it's pretty good for just showing off my manicure. I've hosted a party and I"m hoping to get a few more parties this month to earn back the cost of my kit.

Here is a picture of the three wraps I have to choose from from left to right (Hot to Croc, Metallic Croc, and a hostess exclusive from Summer 2014.

My eyes are gravitating towards the Metallic Croc. I like shiny objects and I want my hands to get noticed. I wish I had another wrap to pair Metallic Croc with but my order hasn't gotten here yet. Bummer.

I better get to bed and get some sleep. I haven't gotten to bed before midnight in 3 days! And I have to get up early tomorrow to wash my curls. Good night.

Jamberry Nails

I did it. I joined Jamberry Nails as a consultant. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to make some money promoting a product I really, really love. For my first manicure, I chose the Skyline nail wrap in matte. I absolutely loved how my nails turned out and I didn't do that bad of a job applying the nails. This manicure did not last a full two weeks like the company advertised, BUT this was due to the way I applied the wrap.

For my second manicure I chose the Hot Zebra wrap. My nails turned out amazing! And thanks to watching a few YouTube videos of Jamberry consultants, I learned how to apply my nails so that I would get two weeks out of my manicure.

I applied this wrap to my nails on Sunday, August 24th and they still look dang good. It looks like I need a fill in this pictures because my nails grow fast. I have gotten so many compliments on my nails and I've made some money. Win win!

I plan to post a final picture of my nails just before I remove them to put on my next wrap. I'm still trying to decide what Jamberry design I want to use on my nails next.

I have a personal website where you can check out all the designs Jamberry has to offer at shavonne.jamberrynails.net.

Married at First Sight

I'm watching Married at First Sight and I think this is the only way I would ever get married.

I hate dating and I don't have a great track record for picking great guys. I'm just lousy at it which is one reason why I've completely given up on dating.

I hate blind dates. Just a casual mention of someone wanting to fix me up feels like I'm being gut punched. I hate that feeling.

Sometimes I think I'm supposed to be single and that's what has gotten me through being single most of my adult life.

I think I would be okay with four experts screening thousands of guys to find the right one for me. It sounds a lot better than "kissing" a bunch of toads just to find my prince.

I need to go to bed.  I have another long day tomorrow. I'm meeting with someone who may become my client.

What Ticks Me Off

I finished watching a commercial for Kaplan University and it got my blood boiling.

I'm one of those people who believe you have to do what you have to do to get ahead. However, one of the things society keeps pushing on people is the idea of and education as being the ONLY way to move up in the world.

I'm not anti education by any means. I've spent gobs of money on a undergraduate and graduate degrees. I was told it was the only way to be successful. I didn't realize I only bought myself a cubicle and a 60-mile commute. The jokes on me and I'm out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Anyways, I bought a Macbook Air and I love it. I got the 11 inch. It's the perfect size. And it's lighter in weight than my first generation iPad.

It's Been a While

I haven't posted to my blog in a year!

What do I pay for this domain name for? I might as well get my money's worth.

I've been busy learning how to cook and staying active and learning how to invest in real estate. I'm seriously tired of working for someone else and I'm envious of those who've managed to find their niche and are making money.

I've been practicing that old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all." It's been working but it's left me little to talk about on my blog.

That will have to change. I have been contributing to a video blog these past 6 months. It's a pretty boring watch. I've gotten bored with video blogging but since I've committed to doing a video 365 Project, I'm going to finish.

To start off with a little positive, I've been reading PaleOMG because the blog is just a good read. Plus, there are paleo recipes I can try. I'm new to the whole cooking thing because of my food allergies and this is one blog I turn to for recipes. Anyways, Julie posted a fashion Friday post which included a picture of one of the most beautiful bags I've ever seen. The bag is made by Kelly Moore and it's Esther bag.
Isn't it beautiful? The green is just lovely. For the first time in a I wish I were a married woman with kids that way I'd have Mother's Day or an anniversary to get an awesome gift like this.
